Heritage & Conservation Joinery in Dorset
Old buildings deserve joinery made the way theirs was. Our heritage joinery and conservation joinery is for period and listed homes where new windows, doors and internal work must match the original in profile, timber and detail — not merely resemble it.
We make listed building windows and doors and carry out sash window restoration for homeowners across Poole, Christchurch, Wimborne and the Dorset conservation areas. Much of this work sits within Grade II listed properties, so we are used to matching mouldings from a surviving section, copying glazing patterns and choosing timber that will behave like the wood it replaces.
We are happy to talk to your architect or surveyor from the outset, so the joinery supports the application rather than complicating it.

Repair, replace or replicate
Not every old window needs replacing. Where frames are sound we repair them — splicing in new hardwood, re-cording sashes, easing and draught-proofing so a period property window works again without losing its glass or its character. Where a unit is beyond saving, we take the profiles off the original and make a faithful copy, so the new piece is indistinguishable from its neighbours. The same care goes into doors, panelling and mouldings that need to sit alongside centuries-old work.
Working with conservation officers and planning
Consent work goes far more smoothly when the joinery is right on paper before it is made. We prepare clear details and sections that conservation officers and planning can approve, specify appropriate timber and finishes, and adjust drawings where an officer asks for a particular sightline or glazing bar. Our aim on any Grade II listed job is joinery that satisfies the conservation brief and lasts another lifetime, made and fitted with the same patience the original builders used.
